Alan Armstrong

President and CEO, Williams Companies

Alan Armstrong began his career at Williams as an engineer more than 30 years ago. From 2011 to 2025, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Williams Companies, leading a team of nearly 5,000 employees that handle 30% of the natural gas used in the United States every day to heat homes, cook food, and generate electricity.  

Alan serves on multiple corporate boards, as well as the boards of several nonprofit organizations, including Junior Achievement USA, 3DE, the University of Oklahoma Foundation, the Williams Foundation, and the Gilcrease Museum.

We need to make tremendous inroads into energy poverty in sub-Saharan Africa. We have the means to do so. [Clean cooking is an] easy place to make a tremendous amount of difference with a relatively small amount of money. I’m really excited to be part of this endeavor.
