Anne Hyre

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Anne is a certified nurse-midwife with over 30 years experience working in international maternal and newborn health for Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University. For 10 years, her work focused on the former Soviet republics, followed by 15 years living in Indonesia and working throughout South and Southeast Asia. For the past 6 years, she has concentrated on sub-Saharan Africa. It is this recent experience that has compelled Anne to dedicate her work to clean cooking–the intersection between health, women’s empowerment, economic development, and environment.

Anne has a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Russian from the University of California at Davis, a Master’s degree in public health from Emory University, a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Johns Hopkins University, and a Master’s degree in nursing with a specialty in midwifery from Georgetown University.
